Lead-free in 2026!!!

As we plan ahead for our 2026 season your Brainerd LGF Board has made the important decision to do away with lead tackle! We know our wildlife can be harmed greatly by the ingestion of lead from fishing tackle. This affects Bald Eagles, Ospreys, the Common Loon, Otters and any other birds and animals that ingest lead by eating fish that have succumbed to swallowing lead. Try as we might, we release most of what LGF catches on our trips. Rarely, we may have a fish break off with the lead tackle still attached. A floating fish is easy prey for Eagles, Ospreys and others.

LET’S GO FISHING Brainerd Chapter serves our community!

Let’s Go Fishing – Brainerd Lakes (LGF) is a MN based 501c-3 nonprofit organization. Bringing Nature’s Healing and Well-being to our area Seniors, Veterans, Adults with disabilities and Youth by taking them on FREE fishing/boating excursions. All trips have a minimum of two trained volunteers on board to guide the excursion and provide a safe, enjoyable trip. Our pontoon is designed for easy boarding for ambulatory as well as wheelchair bound guests.

We are thankful for many things: the volunteers who give of their time and effort with joy and enthusiasm, and to our Sponsors and Donors for the thoughtful financial support.

As Let’s Go Fishing continues to provide outings in the Brainerd Lakes Area, we want to thank our devoted volunteers, sponsors, in-kind donors and guests for our successful season last summer. We are looking forward to another fun, heart-warming season.

As in the past, there will be opportunities to schedule trips on Gull Lake, Rice Lake and Bay Lake. For the 2025 season LGF will host nature excursions from our Rice Lake location, These trips will feature a MN Master Naturalist onboard as we cruise the beautiful Upper Mississippi River. Bring your binoculars and cameras for this nature-filled experience. These excursions will not include fishing time and will be labeled as such.

Our primary client base includes senior residents of care facilities, those living at home with support services, individuals living independently, Veterans and our Youth. There is no cost, free will donations are accepted.

Our strong, committed team of trained volunteer captains and first mates offers our guests the best experience possible, whether fishing or simply cruising. We have received many positive comments and notes of appreciation over the years. Check out the photos of our many smiling faces from trips held during the past few years!
